This policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use the Romaji Online application and related services (together, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Capitalized terms not defined here have the meaning given in our Terms of Use.
2. Information we collect
We may collect the following categories of information, depending on how you use the Service and your device settings:
- Account and profile data. If you create an account or subscribe, we may collect identifiers such as email address, user ID, and subscription status.
- App and usage data. Such as app version, language, anonymized or aggregated lesson progress, feature usage, crash logs, and diagnostics to improve stability and performance.
- Device data. Such as device type, operating system version, and general locale — typically in aggregate or pseudonymous form.
- Purchase data. When you buy in-app products or subscriptions, payment is processed by Apple or Google; we receive limited transaction-related information from those platforms, not your full payment card details.
Romaji Online does not require you to upload photos, videos, or biometric data to use core learning features.
3. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service (including lessons, streaks, sync, and support).
- Process purchases and manage subscriptions.
- Communicate with you about the Service, security, or policy updates when needed.
- Detect abuse, fraud, and technical issues; comply with law; and enforce our Terms.
- Analyze usage in aggregate to understand how features are used and to plan improvements.
4. Sharing and processors
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:
- Service providers who assist us with hosting, analytics, crash reporting, customer support, or email — bound by contracts to use data only for our instructions.
- Apple and Google as needed for app distribution, in-app purchases, and platform policies.
- Authorities when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and integrity of users and the Service.

If our app integrates Google APIs, use of data received from Google APIs will comply with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including Limited Use requirements where applicable.

We retain information only as long as necessary for the purposes described above, unless a longer period is required by law. You may request deletion of certain account-associated data as described below.
6. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or the digital consent age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below that age. If you believe we have, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
8. International transfers
If you use the Service from outside the country where we operate, your information may be processed in countries with different data protection laws. We take steps designed to provide appropriate safeguards where required.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
